It's the last day of September! Whoa, time was fast nowadays, and soon it's Christmas again. Speaking of fast, I was running around for the past two months, and would have achieved the desired speed increase if it wasn't for the typhoons postponing my training (are you listening Ondoy?).So why am I running? Well, I wasn't planning on joining some marathon or competitions; I just realized I was born to run. This started when after a stressful day at the office I decided to check the Sports Complex for the wide open space benefits. I decided immediately that I could make this my after-work habit and hell yeah, it was fun; lots of people jogging, comfortable rubberized track field, and of course, the stress was over the moment the sweat drips out of my face.
Since I'm also running as a weight-loss regimen, I've read notes on basic proper executions and stuff. Most trainers claim that if you want to bulk more muscle, instead of long jogging, do sprints.
If you want further enlightenment, compare the physique of a marathon runner to sprint athletes. Marathon runners looked fit but with less or no muscle definition and they looked unhealthy. Now look at some sprinter during the Olympics, more bulk and definition, right?
And so I have chosen sprint than long runs, and I gotta tell you that it is effective. Compared to running that I maintain a stable heart rate, in sprinting I actually push myself to the limit that my system was roaring with energy demand. That is I think the secret to effective weight loss, and not to mention it's more enjoyable than doing long jogging. Aside from weight loss and stress-killing spree, I now aim the speed and agility of a tennis pro for future parkour endeavors (No more typhoons, please).Tips for better running
1. Put on proper running shoes because they absorb shock.
2. Proper attire is a must. Wear light cotton shirts and jerseys.
3. Drink lots of fluid 20 minutes before running.
4. Use your mouth and nose in breathing, running requires a lot of oxygen.
5. Put on your favorite running songs in your IPod
6. Enjoy
